  • ED Transfer to Inpatient via Bed Request Order - (Handout) When an ED provider places a bed request order, a Pending Intake is created and internal triage can be completed before the request moves to Bed Planning.
  • Emergent Unit to Unit Transfer - (Handout) Inpatient units will call the ATC when they receive an emergent transfer to their unit before a bed request for a unit to unit transfer is entered in Epic.
  • Internal Transfer with Triage Workflow - (Handout) Transfer requests for patients moving from some locations (ICUs, 5South, 3BT) to a General or Intermediate Care unit within UIHC will populate both the Bed Planning and Transfer Center activities. The bed can be preassigned but the actual patient transfer will not occur until ATC has completed the Triage.
  • OpTime Bed Request - (Handout) If a procedure patient was to be discharged from recovery, but it is later determined that the patient requires hospitalization or observation after surgery, submit a bed request.
  • Psychiatry: Distinct Unit Transfer - (Handout) Patients transferring to and from a Psychiatric Hospital unit will require a new Admission Bed Request order. The order will create a new Pended Admission for the ATC to bed plan as appropriate.
  • Unit to Unit Transfer - (Handout) When a unit requests that a patient be transferred to another unit, these requests will be found in the Transfers group within Bed Planning. The ATC will determine the appropriate placement for the patient and pre-assign to the new unit.
