End users can practice documentation using Epic Playground. This environment is available to all Epic users and refreshes each night so that patients can be reused daily, if needed.

Looking for practice patients or logins that help target most common workflows within the Playground environments? Open this master listing for suggestions: Upgrade or Practice Patients and Users.

After Training - Before Work

The Epic Playground is a copy of the Epic program with training patients. You can log in, open patient charts, enter information, and create notes. It provides an environment where you can practice your actual workflows.

For some classes, the instructor may have added documentation on the patients you used, so it was ready for you to practice during class. For example, orders are added to simulate an ED visit or cases are created for the OR schedules. This will not be done on the Epic Playground environment.

How do I log into the Epic Playground?

During your Epic training, you used training log-on IDs and training patients in class. The same IDs and patients can be used to practice documentation in our Epic Playground. The Practicing on Epic Playground handout provides step-by-step instructions for accessing that environment. (To access the Epic Playground remotely, see the Remote Access for Epic Playground tip sheet.) Appropriate patients and other necessary details can be found in our training login sheets listed below.

Epic Training Materials

These documents are used in Epic training and provide the login information, in-class patients, or other details needed to work through concepts in class. Feel free to make use of them after-class as well for reinforcement.
