Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Vascular

Cupid is Epic's cardiology, electrophysiology, and vascular application which features multi-modality, procedure-specific clinical documentation along with consult, follow-up, and referral workflows. It provides integration with imaging systems and monitoring devices.

Resources

The following resources provide information on Cupid functionality.

Cath Lab/CPRU Workflows

  • Add-On Scheduling - (Handout) An add-on refers to a case that must be or is desired to be performed the same day. Marking the case as an add-on will communicate the case to the users on the Snapboard and Status Board.
  • Beaker Lab Collection - OR - (Handout) The workflows for Beaker Lab Collection in Main OR, ASC Pre/Post, and Cath Lab are reviewed.
  • Beaker Specimen Collection - OR/Procedural Intra Op - (Handout) The workflows for specimen collection in the Main OR, ASC OR, SFCH OR, and procedural areas are reviewed.
  • Cancellation of Cases & Logs - (Handout) Clinicians that need to cancel procedures, either pre-op or intra-op, within CPRU or the Cath Labs should follow these two workflows. The end result is more intuitive and efficient both for clinicians and billing staff.
  • Cath Lab Delays - (Handout) When a discharge or a case scheduled for the Cath Lab has been delayed, staff should follow the below steps to document the type, reason, and length of the delay.
  • Consent for Operation/Procedure Documentation - (Handout) A new workflow for reviewing consents will assist in ensuring that patients have a valid consent form on file. Users will be able to change the status of a consent form and add additional comments that will display in the Consents navigator section and on the Media tab in Chart Review.
  • Cupid Case Tracking Events - (Handout) Case tracking events help with the tracking of lab utilization and appropriately documenting intervals between critical points during a cardiovascular procedure.
  • Overview of the Status Board - (Handout) The Status Board used in the Cath Lab is reviewed with details on the toolbar options, columns, and legend.
  • Remove / Cancel / Void Cases - (Handout) The Snapboard will allow the Cath Lab staff to cancel, remove, or void cases. The case must be treated appropriately because if not followed accurately, workflow downstream is interrupted.
  • Rover Log In and Finding Patients - (Handout) Use the rover mobile app to quickly access patient information from Rover-capable devices.
  • Rover Image Capture - (Handout) Clinical staff can use the camera integrated into their Rover device to capture clinical images for the patient’s chart. Images captured with Rover are stored on the Media tab of Chart Review.
  • Snapboard Settings - (Handout) The Snapboard is an activity used for making appointments, scheduling cases, assigning resources, and managing the schedule in procedural areas. Users can personalize settings on the Snapboard to easily access the tools and information they need.
  • Using the Snapboard - (Handout) The Snapboard is a specialty tool for making appointments, scheduling cases, assigning resources, and managing the schedule in procedural areas. The Cath Lab uses the Snapboard to schedule patients and assign nurses and techs to the case.
  • Visit Messaging - (Handout) Text message updates can be sent to families of procedural patients.

Cath Lab Procedure Reporting

  • Study Review Chart Deficiencies - (Handout) For Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology providers, studies that are not completed and signed within 72 hours of the timing event “Patient Out – Lab” will display within the performing providers In Basket as a Chart Reminder. Providers can access the study to complete and sign it from within the Chart Reminder message.
  • Vessel Drawing Tool for Coronary Angiography - (Handout) The Vessel Drawing tool is a powerful visual tool that gives Cardiovascular providers quick and easy access for documenting CORS procedure diagnostic findings and their interventions.
  • Write a Result Report using Study Review - (Handout) The result report for Cardiology procedures performed within the Cath Lab is created using the Study Review activity, also known as the reading palette.

Non-Invasive Cardiology Workflows

  • Add On an Exam from an Imaging Order - (Handout) Instructions for adding on a procedure from an existing imaging order.
  • Administering Contrast for an Imaging Exam - (Handout) Technologists may be required to administer contrast when performing certain types of imaging exams. This may be documented during the technologist workflow in either the Begin Exam or the End Exam navigator.
  • Ancillary Orders Activity - (Handout) Reviews the process for creating, modifying, copying, and canceling imaging orders through the Ancillary Orders activity. (Note: Reflects Hyperdrive upgrade.)
  • Ancillary Orders Activity (RAD905) - (Video: 2 min) Imaging orders may be created, modified, cancelled, scheduled, and added-on to the schedule using the Ancillary Orders activity.
  • Begin and End an Imaging Exam - (Handout) Imaging technologists and sonographers will record the beginning and ending status of an exam from the Technologist Work List in Epic.
  • Cancel/Undo - (Handout) Cancel/Undo, by default, will return a patient’s exam to its Prior Status. Use the drop-down arrow to select other options such as Cancel Arrival, Cancel Appointment, and Cancel Order.
  • Edit Contrast Administration Documentation - (Handout) There may be times when information related to contrast administration, such as the dose administered, needs to be edited following a procedure.
  • Monitor Hook Up - Tech Workflow - (Handout) When a patient is provided with a monitor (Holter, Event, or MCT), the technologist will document this from the tech work list.
  • Monitor Return - Tech Workflow - (Handout) Once a monitor is returned, the technologist will create an appointment so they can document the return and send the information from the monitor for interpretation.
  • Overview of Report Settings (CAR050) - (eLearning: 5 min) Epic's overview of how to view report settings for a work list (ex: Tech Work List, Reading Work List, Study History, etc), save personal reports, and set a default report.
  • Report/Work List Settings - (Handout) Use work lists to find and take action on patient imaging exams and procedures. Default settings are login-specific and will need to be selected for each login department used. Multiple work lists may be selected as favorites for easy access.
  • Study History (RAD903) - (Video: 2 min) Access a patient’s imaging history for exams performed within UIHC using the Study History activity.
  • Study History - (Handout) Access a patient’s imaging history for exams performed within UIHC using the Study History activity.
  • Technologist Work List - (Handout) The Technologist (Tech) Work List displays imaging exams scheduled for the selected date (default is today). Technologists can review patient information and document the details for beginning and ending an imaging exam.
  • Technologist Work List (RAD906) - (Video: 3 min) Work list displaying a list of patients' scheduled imaging exams for the day for a specific imaging area. From here, a technologist will document the beginning and end of the patient's exam.
