  • Overview of Report Settings (CAR050) - (eLearning: 5 min) Epic's overview of how to view report settings for a work list (ex: Tech Work List, Reading Work List, Study History, etc), save personal reports, and set a default report.
  • Report/Work List Settings - (Handout) Use work lists to find and take action on patient imaging exams and procedures. Default settings are login-specific and will need to be selected for each login department used. Multiple work lists may be selected as favorites for easy access.
  • Status Report (RAD902) - (Video: 3 min) Overview of the Status Report activity, which displays a list of upcoming imaging exams for a specific procedural area.
  • Study History (RAD903) - (eLearning: 2 min) Review a patient's prior imaging exams using Study History.
  • Study History - (Handout) Access a patient’s imaging history for exams performed within UIHC using the Study History activity.

Scheduling & Check-In

  • Add On an Exam from an Imaging Order - (Handout) Instructions for adding on a procedure from an existing imaging order.
  • Checking In a Radiology Exam - (Handout) Appointments for radiology exams must be checked in before a technologist can start the exam in Epic. Checking in a radiology exam follows the typical Cadence check-in workflows, with special considerations.
  • Front Desk Activity (RAD904) - (Video: 4 min) Imaging front desk and scheduling staff may use the Front Desk activity to view imaging orders that need to be added onto the schedule for the day as well as appointments for exams that have been scheduled and need to be checked in.
  • Front Desk Activity - (Handout) Imaging front desk and scheduling staff may use the Front Desk activity to view imaging orders that need to be added onto the schedule for the day as well as appointments for exams that have been scheduled and need to be checked in.
  • Inpatient MRI with Anesthesia - Clerk - (Handout) Anesthesia/OR Clerks will be able to view orders for Inpatient MRI procedures in the depot and assist with the scheduling process. This document outlines the entire process.
  • Scheduling a Radiology Exam - (Handout) Scheduling a radiology exam follows the normal Cadence scheduling workflows, with special considerations.

Imaging Orders

  • Ancillary Orders Activity - (Handout) Reviews the process for creating, modifying, copying, and canceling imaging orders through the Ancillary Orders activity.
  • Ancillary Orders Activity (RAD905) - (Video: 2 min) Imaging orders may be created, modified, cancelled, scheduled, and added-on to the schedule using the Ancillary Orders activity.
  • Placing Orders for Non-UIHC Imaging - (Handout) Follow these steps to place an order for radiology tests that will be done at a non-UIHC radiology location, such as a local hospital.
  • Using CareSelect when Placing Radiology Orders - (Handout) When placing orders for advanced imaging procedures (CT, MR, PET, NM), Epic uses CareSelect to evaluate the appropriateness of the order for that patient. When CareSelect identifies exams that may be more appropriate for the patient, a Best Practice Advisory (BPA) displays with a list of suggested alternatives, allowing you to easily change your order.
  • Verify Orders Activity (RAD907) - (Video: 3 min) Used by technologists to verify and update imaging orders as necessary during the exam process.
  • Verify Orders Activity - (Handout) Techs and sonographers may need to modify or add an imaging order to reflect the exam(s) that were performed. Create, change, copy, or cancel an order using the Verify Orders activity.

Radiation Oncology

  • Mosaiq-Epic Interface for Beacon Users - (Handout) For a summary of a patient’s radiation treatments, clinicians can access data from Mosaiq (the Radiation Oncology software) within Epic through Episodes, the ONC Synopsis tool within Visit Navigators, the Synopsis activity, and SmartPhrases.

Radiologist Workflows

  • Diagnostic Procedures (RAD912) - (eLearning: 7 min) Covers workflows for diagnostic radiologists needing to place orders and document a clinic note related to a procedure.
  • Electronic Signature for Consent for Operation or Procedure Form - Radiology - (Handout) Procedure specific paper consent forms are being converted to electronic signature (e-sig) documents in Epic. E-sig integrates a signature pad and Epic to capture a patient’s signature on a digital form. The location within Epic for starting the form is dependent upon a staff member’s security, when the operation or procedure is to be performed, and the department’s workflow.
  • Imaging Dashboard for Radiologists (RAD908) - (eLearning: 3 min) Find exams and other important information from the Radiologist Imaging Dashboard.
  • Interventional Radiology Procedures (RAD913) - (eLearning: 7 min) Explore key practices for Interventional Radiologists, covering the use of the Status Board, patient consent documentation, and SmartSets ordering for enhanced procedural efficiency.
  • Protocol Work List (RAD911) - (eLearning: 4 min) Assign protocols for an imaging exam using the Protocol Work List.
  • Reading Work List (RAD909) - (eLearning: 5 min) Find completed exams that need to be resulted on the radiologists’ reading work list.
  • Study Review (RAD910) - (eLearning: 4 min) Overview of the Study Review activity, also known as the radiologists’ reading palette.

Technologist Exam Workflows
