The UI CareLink activity provides referring providers and health care professionals secure online access to up-to-date medical records for patients referred to the UIHC. The UI CareLink website can be accessed once an account has been created for the CareLink user.

Resources

The following resources provide information on UI CareLink functionality.

  • Outside Records (VIEW303) - (Video: 9 min) Reviewing data from outside sources in Epic requires a basic understanding of how they are integrated. This resource includes an overview of Care Everywhere, MyChart, UI CareLink, lifeIMAGE, Outside Radiology Images, and how they impact our electronic medical record (Epic).
  • Patient Care Team/EMR Information Sharing Matrix - (Handout) This matrix provides details on the Epic activities used to share patient information from the Epic system.
  • Provide Access via UI CareLink to Study Monitors - (Handout) It is not always possible for external study monitors to be on site to review research participants’ records.  Study coordinators can provide time-limited access for monitors to those records via UI CareLink.
  • Running the First Access Detail Report(s) - (Handout) - These reports are used by Compliance and HIM staff to audit UI CareLink users who access a patient’s chart by matching on required patient demographics.  There is a report specific to UIHC staff members and one that is specific to CCI sites.

  • UI CareLink Admission Coordinators Placement Requests - (Handout) UI CareLink Admission Coordinators can receive placement requests electronically via Service Request In Basket messages. Coordinators will be able to review the request and Accept or Decline the request for service. Additionally, coordinators will be able to communicate directly to the sender of the Service Request message to answer questions, obtain clarification and/or request additional information.
