Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI)
Epic’s SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) module is a tool which has been designed to help identify patients who might either be in a sexual or gender minority. By ensuring that a patient’s sexual orientation and gender identity is clearly recorded in their chart, we can help gender and sexual minorities feel more comfortable and give your providers more information on which to base clinical decisions. In particular, this creates a standard way to document medical histories for transgender, intersex, and nonbinary patients, which can help prevent clinically relevant information from being overlooked and helps clinicians provide care tailored to these patients' unique needs.
