The UIHC Scribe Compliance Policy defines a scribe as support staff who transcribes in the electronic medical record (EMR/paper documentation) as dictated by the Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP). A scribe may use a number of Epic activities in order to assist the LIP including the Problem List, Meds and Orders, and Notes.

• UIHC Scribe Compliance Policy - (Handout) Purpose of this policy is to define the role of a scribe in clinic and hospital settings. To assure that information in the health record, including the provider of the service and the individual who created the documentation, is documented clearly and appropriately.
• Documenting in the Medical Record - (Handout) The job of the Scribe is to assist the LIP in the clinic setting and the handout provides workflows that are efficient as well as compliant with legal standards.
