Refill (Renewal) Encounters
Patients have many modes of sending initial (new) or renewal prescription medication requests to their care team. When those requests are created they will generate a Refill encounter to track requests. Requests are then triaged by the care team and routed off to be approved or refused by the appropriate Licensed Independent Practitioner.
Prescription Renewal Requests can come from the following sources:
- SureScripts: External entity (Usually Pharmacy) initiated electronic request (InBasket Message)
- E-Fax: Fax sent to Outlook email (Staff put Rx Request in Epic as Telephone Encounter)
- Fax: Paper Fax presents in Clinic (Staff put Rx Request in Epic as Telephone Encounter)
- Phone Call: Patient calls to contact Clinic Staff (Telephone Encounter is created to document call)
- UI Pharmacy: Pharmacy generates request (InBasket Message linked to Refill Encounter
- MyChart: Patient generates renewal request (InBasket Message)
