Media Manager
The Media Manager activity is a one-stop solution for managing many different types of files attached to the patient record. Documents, images, videos, and other types of files can be attached at the patient, encounter, or order level.

The following resources provide information on Media Manager functionality.
- Managing External Media (HIM007) - (eLearning: 9 min) Import, scan, edit, and find external media.
- Scanning and Importing Internal and External Documents - (Handout) Internal UIHC and external facility documents can be scanned and imported into the Media Manager.
- Changing the Scanner Driver - (Handout) Users of workstations that support both scanning and patient photo capture may find it necessary to change the scanner driver (the program that controls the device), depending on the activity for which the workstation was used most recently.
- Moving, Editing, or Deleting a Document - (Handout) A document within the Media Manager can be moved, edited, or deleted.

Specific Document Types
- Scanning Advance Directives and Legal Documents - (Handout) Advance Directives and other legal documents should be promptly scanned into Epic using the Media Manager activity.

- Scanning EKG Waveforms (aka Rhythm Strips) - (Handout) When a patient is being monitored for EKG changes, staff may be required to print their waveform strips from the monitoring software and scan them into EPIC for future reference and analysis.
- Scanning External Legal Court Order Discharge Documents - (Handout) Provides the steps for scanning an external legal court order discharge documents into Epic using the Media Manager activity as well as processing a rescinded external legal court order discharge document.
- Offsite Visit Workflow - (Handout) The Offsite Visit Workflow is used when providers at UI Community Clinics or Outreach perform services at external hospitals or facilities (inpatient rounding, consults, surgeries, etc.). External documentation is uploaded to the UIHC medical record in Media Manager.
