Resources

The following resources provide information on FastPass functionality.

  • Documenting in Flowsheets (INP061) - (eLearning: 7 min) This Elearning introduces Epic users to flowsheets: the basic layout, how to chart and navigate flowsheets. This is a good refresher for anyone wanting to review Flowsheets as well as the new user to Epic and documentation. Designed for anyone using Flowsheets to document.

  • Document in Flowsheets Using Rover (ROV004) - (eLearning: 3 min) This eLearning demonstrates how to document in flowsheets while using the Rover application.

  • Filing Monitor Data (INP163) - (eLearning: 10 min) This resource covers how to file incoming device data to a patient's chart.

  • Flowsheet Charting at the Accurate Time - (Handout) Documentation must be charted at the time the task was completed. To accomplish accurate charting the Add Col button or Insert Col button may be needed.

  • Flowsheet Charting Quick Reference Guide - (Handout) The Flowsheets activity allows users to quickly document on many different flowsheets (assessments, screenings, etc.) within the same workspace.

  • Flowsheet Efficiency (POSS102) - (Video: 1 min) Learn how to speed up your flowsheet documentation with a few efficiency tips.

  • Head to Toe Reassessment - (Handout) For most inpatient UIHC locations Only. A Reassessment group is added to the top of the Head to Toe and the A/I flowsheets. This will enable minimal documentation if NO change for that nurse’s last assessment on a shift for a full or focused reassessment. Also, this will facilitate much decreased documentation if there are changes from that nurse’s last assessment on a shift, in a full or focused reassessment.

  • Here's How...Flowsheet Macros (POSS189) - (Video: 1.5 min) Learn how to document common assessments in a few clicks with flowsheet macros. See how to quickly create a macro and even share it with colleagues.

  • Hide Completed Flowsheet Groups - (Handout) Once a flowsheet group has been completed it can be marked as 'Completed' and then hidden which will decrease scrolling within flowsheets.

  • Nursing Behavioral Restraint Charting - (Handout) This document contains guidelines for inpatient nurses to help efficiently place behavioral restraint orders and document within the Flowsheets activity. Additional guidance is included for extending restraint time and for discontinuing restraint orders.

  • Orthostatic Blood Pressure Documentation - (Handout) An overview of how to chart a set of Orthostatic Blood Pressure when it is necessary.

  • Patient Belongings at Discharge - (Handout) Patient belongings need to be documented at admission, on transfer (by both the sending and receiving staff), and at discharge. Epic provides a Best Practice Advisory (BPA) to remind end users to review belongings at discharge.

  • Use the Details Pane to Save Time - (Handout) You can quickly view the available choices for a specific flowsheet row by using the Details Pane. Depending on the row type, you can choose one or more values from a list, add a comment, view and/or copy last filed documentation. This leads you efficiently through the flowsheet and can reduce the time you spend charting.
