Resources

The following resources provide information on Charge Capture functionality.

  • Charge Capture Workflow for Rehab Therapy (PT/OT) - (Handout) Physical and Occupational therapists will use the described workflow to document therapy charges. Charges MUST be filed before pulling flow sheet data into the Clinic/Consult/Progress note. This is so charges are printed on the note for 3rd party payors.

  • Life of a Charge (GEN015) - (eLearning: 10 min) Review the different types of charges and how they post to patients’ accounts.

  • E/M Level of Service Guide - (Handout) Laminated pocket cards of this guide can be obtained by contacting The Joint Office for Compliance.

  • Nursing Charge Capture - (Handout) Reviews the process for nursing to chart the facility charge for an outpatient visit and send those charges to billing staff for processing.

  • Nursing Charge Capure FAQ - (Handout) FAQ sheet for Nursing Charge Capture function.

  • Report of Time Spent in Patient's Chart - (Handout) For outpatient encounters (clinic visits & HOV encounters), Epic will now calculate the provider’s time spent in the patient’s chart on the day of service, providing you with an estimate for Time Spent. These calculations are estimates and are only to be used as a guideline for Time Spent determination.

  • Using Charge Capture to Enter Clinic Charges - (Handout) Use the Charge Capture navigator section to document all charges that are not automatically generated by clinical workflows.

  • Using Charge Capture (for Coders) - (Handout) Charge Capture can be used to enter charges that are not automatically generated by clinical workflows. The Charge Capture navigator section is set up differently by specialty in order to reduce the number and types of charges appearing in the list.
