Allergy documentation is completed in Epic by a variety of roles and may include both ambulatory and inpatient encounters. Allergies may be manually documented by staff and patients or electronically received via Care Everywhere.

• Documenting Patient Allergies - (Handout) Documentation of allergies is important for patient safety. Allergies can be added manually to Epic, they can also be received from outside sources. The Reconcile Outside Information activity allows the clinician to review information related to allergies from outside sources such as MyChart and Care Everywhere. The clinician can decide whether to add the information to the patient’s chart.
