*Licensed research staff expecting to have the same access as a clinic staff with the same license should take the Epic training appropriate for their licensure (ex: nurse), in addition to any research requirements.

*Unlicensed research staff needing to write a clinic/progress note or place an order should attend the in-person Epic Ancillary training, in addition to any research requirements. Only research staff with a license on file or a written protocol in place will be able to sign orders to make them active. Otherwise, they will place and pend the order for another staff member to sign. See the Ancillary course page for more information.

Registration: Register in Employee Self Service for ICON course "WICTS2: Associating a Research Subject in EPIC".

Roles: Research Coordinators and other users who need to review or manage study details and enrollment.

Note: Qualifying research studies are automatically built in Epic after IRB approval. If you have any questions about this process, please contact heather-davis@uiowa.edu.

It may take up to 72 hours after online training is complete for Epic access to be updated.

Prerequisites: Appropriate Revenue/Billing training to receive the primary security necessary to perform this function. Only specific Research Billing staff perform these tasks and receive this security.

Registration: E-mail Epic Training Requests. Include the name of the staff person requesting access, their job role, and their staff ID number in the e-mail.

Roles: UIHC staff needing to link charges to a research study for billing and tracking purposes using the Research Billing Review activity.
